Unveiled last month at WIMA NFC in Monaco, Nokia Lumia 610 with NFC (Near Field Communication) will be exclusively launched at Orange.

Although the phone has yet to be listed at Orange UK, the folks over at SoMobile claim the carrier plans to release the Nokia Lumia 610 NFC soon. It’s likely that the smartphone will be available for free on select plans or for an affordable price on PAYG (pay as you go).

The smartphone will be powered by Windows Phone platform, specifically designed to work on devices with lower than 512MB of RAM.

The highlight of the smartphone is NFC capability and the low price. Other than these, the handset has the same specs as the standard Lumia 610, which was announced a few months ago at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Lumia 610 NFC is equipped with an 800 MHz single-core processor and packs 256MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Obviously, it does not feature a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

It also sports a decent 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that features Corning Gorilla Glass coating and supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Last but not least, Lumia 610 NFC packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording.

In the same piece of news, Sony Xperia U is now on “Coming Soon” at Orange UK, which points to an imminent release within the following days. Both white and black versions will be available for free on select plans.

Unlike Lumia 610 NFC that runs Windows Phone OS, Xperia U is an Android mid-budget phone that sports a 3.5-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen based on Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology.

The smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor, which is complemented by a DB8500 GPU manufactured by ST-Ericsson, as well as 512MB of RAM. There’s also 4GB of internal memory inside, but no microSD card slot.
