Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has officially announced the upcoming availability of the Nokia Lumia 525 smartphone on the market in India.

The handset was announced for this market at the 6th Annual Strategy Sharing Summit in Goa, and it is set to land on shelves in this country in Glossy Orange, White, Yellow, and Matte Black in early January 2014.

Unfortunately, no specific info on the phone’s pricing has been provided as of now, but Nokia is set to offer such details closer to the availability date, fonearena reports.

Even so, we should expect for this device to prove yet another affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone option for users in India, the same as Nokia Lumia 520 was before it.

In fact, we should note that Lumia 525 arrives on the market with features and capabilities similar to those of Lumia 520, only that it sports a series of upgraded hardware inside.

The mobile phone was launched with a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) IPS display that can deliver a 235 ppi pixel density, as well as with a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor inside, with Adreno 305 GPU.

The specifications list of the new device also includes 1GB of RAM (double the amount that was available in Lumia 520), as well as 8GB of internal memory. A microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space was also included.

On the back, the mobile phone features a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities. Nokia Lumia 525 is powered by a 1430mAh battery.

The smartphone runs under the Windows Phone 8 operating system, with all the enhancements included in Lumia Black attached, is only 9.9 mm thick and weighs 124 grams.

Other specifications of the device include a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, support for 3G networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and GPS receiver with aGPS.
