It will feature a price tag of $99 (€76), free of contract

Starting today, MetroPCS customers will be able to purchase the first Windows Phone 8 device on the network of their wireless carrier, in the form of Nokia Lumia 521, the operator has officially confirmed.

The smartphone, already available at T-Mobile in the United States, is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 in Nokia’s lineup, and will be put up for sale at MetroPCS at only $99 (€76) contract-free, the carrier announced on Facebook.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 1GHz dual-core processor packed inside, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot, a 1430.0 mAh battery, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Furthermore, the handset offers Wi-Fi WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm audio connector, and a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) touchscreen, in addition to the usual set of sensors.
