14 DAY TRIAL // Rumors on the seemingly early dismissal of Nokia Lumia 810 by T-Mobile USA emerged yesterday and raised some questions as to why the carrier’s took the decision to stop selling this Windows Phone handset.
Well, it looks like the folks at TmoNews found the reason behind T-Mobile’s judgment to put the Lumia 810 on EOL (end of life) status.
According to a T-Mobile internal document, the Magenta carrier plans to replace the Lumia 810 with a newer Windows Phone 8.
That phone is the Lumia 521, which was officially introduced by Nokia and T-Mobile back in February. The leaked document mentions the smartphone will go on sale beginning April 24, but that has yet to be confirmed by the carrier.
Aside from the Lumia 810, T-Mobile also removed the HTC 8X from its online store, though we’re not sure if this one will get replaced by another Windows Phone 8 device anytime in the future.
Nokia Lumia 521 is T-Mobile’s version of Lumia 520, which has just been released in several countries. Even though we don’t have any info on the phone’s price tag, Windows Phone fans should expect it to be very cheap.
In fact, the Lumia 520 is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 handset launched by Nokia. The smartphone has been confirmed to arrive at T-Mobile USA with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and video recording.
The smartphone is also said to be equipped with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.
It will be powered by a 1430 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 360 hours of standby time or up to 15 hours of talk time (10 hours in 3G mode).
