The handset is available for purchase for free on contract

Starting today, mobile phone users in the Canada can purchase the Nokia Lumia 520 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier Rogers, as the device has just become officially available for them.

Nokia Lumia 520, the cheapest device in Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 lineup, is available for $0 with the signing of a 3-year contract with the wireless carrier, but can also be purchased at $199.99 outright via Rogers' website.

The new device sells only in a black flavor for the time being, but exchangeable covers are available in order to personalize it.

The mobile phone arrives on the market with a 4-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core processor inside, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot.

Running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, the device also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a 1430mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.
