Nokia’s Lumia 520 smartphone is the most popular Windows Phone 8 device out there, but that did not stop AT&T and Microsoft from cutting its price in half for the following five days.

Starting today, November 28, the handset is available for purchase in the United States at only $49.99 if bought through AT&T or Microsoft Store.

The device is being sold contract-free, as part of AT&T’s GoPhone lineup, which makes it more than appealing to all those looking for a smartphone to stay connected.

As PhoneArena notes, this is the lowest price tag that this handset has seen on AT&T’s network until now. The promotion is not live yet on the wireless carrier’s website, but it should kick in shortly.

Users will find the mobile phone priced similarly in select AT&T stores too, as well as on Microsoft’s online Store, where Lumia 520 is already listed at only $49.99.

Although dirt cheap, the smartphone can still provide users with decent performance and a great experience while on the go, courtesy of a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

The device also features a 4-inch screen capable of delivering a WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution, as well as 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, it sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a 1430mAh battery inside, and support for HSDPA and HSUPA (WCDMA 900 /2100 MHz) connectivity, which makes it a 4G device.

“Powered by Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 520 comes with a powerful 1 GHz dual core processor, a responsive touchscreen, digital lenses that make taking super-sharp pictures a snap, and a host of features that make this the useful and fun smartphone you'll want,” Microsoft notes.

The handset also includes a series of exclusive Nokia applications, such as Nokia MixRadio, or the HERE Drive app, which enables users to easily find their way around streets. HERE Transit and HERE Maps applications are also available on this device.
