Earlier this week, wireless carrier AT&T officially announced the upcoming availability of the Nokia Lumia 520 smartphone on its GoPhone lineup starting with July 26, but the device is already listed on the company’s website, and can be ordered.

This is the first Windows Phone 8 device to have been added in the carrier’s aforementioned pre-paid series, and sports a price tag of $99.99 (€76).

Nokia launched the Lumia 520 as the most affordable device in its Windows Phone 8 family, and the sub-$100 price tag that it sports contract-free confirms that.

However, the smartphone can still provide users with appealing features and capabilities, although it cannot support certain applications and services, a limitation caused by its 512MB of RAM.

Nokia Lumia 520 arrives on shelves with a 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a WVGA resolution, while also packing a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor inside.

“The Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone gives you experiences available only on a Lumia in a fun, affordable package. Innovations include the Windows Phone 8 operating system, a superior camera, and a super-sensitive 4” touchscreen that you can use even with long fingernails or gloves,” AT&T notes.

Furthermore, the handset has 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for storage expansion purposes, and a 1430 mAh battery.

On the back, the Nokia Lumia 520 features a 5-megapixel photo snapper, which should provide users with video recording capabilities as well. Not to mention that it comes with a built-in GPS receiver, with support for Nokia’s HERE location services.

“Create breathtaking images with Nokia digital camera lenses. Add motion to your pictures with Cinemagraph. Create a perfect group shot with Smart Shoot. Capture super-wide-angled pictures to take in more of the scene,” the carrier says.

“With global HERE Maps, you get information, photos, and reviews on top of nearby places along with a walking guide to your chosen destination. You can drive to your destinations easily with turn-by-turn navigation provided by HERE Drive, even when offline.”
