Starting today, Nokia Lumia 1520, the latest Windows Phone 8 flagship device from the Finnish mobile phone maker, is available for purchase.

Sales of the device kick off in France, and they should start in countries such as Hong Kong, Italy, Russia, and the United States later this week.

Featuring a 6-inch 1080p full HD ClearBlack touchscreen, with “Assertive Display” technology, Lumia 1520 is the largest device running Windows Phone 8, and also the most powerful. It packs a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM.

“With three columns for Live tiles on your Start screen, you will truly be able see and do more on the device,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

On the back, the new mobile phone sports a 20-megapixel camera with Optical Image stabilization, complemented by exclusive apps that can take full advantage of its capabilities, including the Nokia Camera app, and the new Nokia Storyteller app.

As Nokia puts it, with Lumia 1520, “you will enjoy a 20-megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilization, enhanced sensor technology, oversampling and outstanding zoom capabilities.”

The camera will record videos with better audio quality than before, courtesy of four directional stereo microphones built into the smartphone, also a first for Nokia.

Lumia 1520 also comes with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, as well as with support for 4G LTE networks, and a built-in GPS receiver. Furthermore, it sports the entire range of usual connectivity options and sensors.

“And, let’s not forget that the Lumia 1520 comes with Microsoft Office built in, so you have the flexibility to work when you need to; and it includes a massive battery with integrated wireless charging (Qi compatible),” Nokia Conversations also notes.

Running under the latest flavor of Windows Phone 8, Nokia Lumia 1520 also offers support for the multitude of applications available for download through the Windows Phone Store.

Soon, the large mobile phone will be launched in more markets around the world, but info on the matter will be provided at a later date, so keep an eye on this space for updates.
