We reported a few days ago Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available for purchase in Australia via Harvey Norman for $895 (€605) off contract and now the Finnish handset maker officially introduced the phablet in the country.

According to Nokia Australia, the Lumia 1520 will arrive next month and will be available exclusively at Harvey Norman beginning December 11.

Customers will be able to grab Nokia's flagship smartphone for $899 (€610) outright, which includes a free $20 (€13.5) app voucher for the Windows Phone Store with every purchase until 15 January 2014.

“There’s a growing demand for mobile devices that have the power, speed, and screen size to handle the demands of busy life and enable people to be more productive.

As capturing and sharing images and video become more instinctive ways to communicate and express yourself, we believe the additional screen size and next level imaging technology of devices like the Lumia 1520 will give people a compelling reason to switch,” said Steve Lewis, Nokia Australia’s managing director.

Aside from bringing fans in Australia the powerful features of the latest version of Windows Phone platform, Nokia Lumia 1520 comes packed with lots of apps and services, including HERE’s full navigation suite (HERE Maps, HERE Drive and HERE Livesight), as well as Nokia Music free music streaming service.

Hardware-wise, Lumia 1520 is the most powerful Windows Phone handset available on the market. The phablet comes equipped with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

It also boasts a huge 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

“We’re excited to be the exclusive launch partner for Nokia’s first large screen smartphone at our stores and online. We’ve seen a wave of innovation in this new segment of the smartphone market – driven by consumers’ desire to get more from their mobile device.

Imaging is also a key selling point for our customers – with the arrival of Instagram and Nokia Lumia’s track record in this space we’re confident this will be a stand-out product in our smartphone offering,” added Geoff Van Der Vegt, General Manager, Technology & Entertainment at Harvey Norman.
