For AT&T customers that prefer Windows Phone over other mobile platforms, this may be a known fact, but those who wish to switch to Microsoft’s mobile operating system may not be aware of the fact that they will soon be able to purchase the Lumia 1520 with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box.

The first rumors regarding the availability of new color options for Lumia 1520 at AT&T emerged a few months ago, but we did not have any confirmation at that moment.

According to the latest hearsay, Nokia was planning to bring the Lumia 1520 in green and orange at AT&T. However, the important news was the fact that both versions of the smartphone would be powered by Windows Phone 8.1

Well, it looks like the information leaked several months ago was accurate, as Nokia has recently showcased the green Lumia 1520 powered by Windows Phone 8.1.

The device was spotted by the folks over at Winsupersite at Nokia’s own event during BUILD 2014 developer conference that kicked off earlier this week.

The orange variant was not showcased at the conference, but there’s no doubt about it that Nokia will match Lumia 930’s green and orange colors with the release of the Lumia 1520.

For the time being, it’s unclear whether or not the green and orange Lumia 1520 will only be available through AT&T or Nokia will release these variations in other countries as well.

Aside from the different colors and a brand new operating system onboard, the green and orange Lumia 1520 will be the same as the current versions that sell with Windows Phone 8 out of the box.

This means that potential customers will probably be able to purchase the new Lumia 1520s for the same price as the older models. More info on the Lumia 1520 powered by Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to surface in the coming weeks.

On a side note, AT&T has just confirmed plans to offer the Nokia Lumia 635, one of the first smartphones to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system onboard.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly the Lumia 635 LTE will arrive at AT&T, as the carrier has only mentioned that the smartphone will go on sale “this year.”

T-Mobile and MetroPCS have also announced that they will carry the Nokia Lumia 635, so Windows Phone fans in the United States will be pleased to know that Microsoft and Nokia offer them so many alternatives.
