Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has officially announced plans to bring its Nokia Lumia 1520 flagship device to the market in the UK starting with December 6.

The handset will be available for purchase through Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and various independent retailers via Micro-P, the company also announced.

At the same time, users will be able to purchase the device through wireless carriers O2 and Vodafone, both in-store and online, MyNokiaBlog reports.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 became available for pre-order in the UK last week, when Carphone Warehouse added it to its online portal, for free on plans starting at £38 ($61/€45.5) per month.

Nokia Lumia 1520 is the largest Windows Phone 8 smartphone to date, courtesy of a 6-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD (1080p) resolution. According to the handset vendor, this is the best screen it has packed on a smartphone so far.

“A six-inch, 1080p full HD display with excellent outdoor readability and redesigned start screen lets you make the most of the extra space,” Nokia notes on its website.

The device, which became available for purchase in the United States last week, is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and features 2GB of RAM inside.

The smartphone also packs 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, while being powered by a 3400mAh battery that can deliver up to 22 hours of talk time.

One of the main selling points of the new device is its main camera, a 20-megapixel sensor with Optical Image Stabilization and support for full HD video recording. The phone also sports a front camera.

At the same time, Nokia Lumia 1520 features 4G LTE connectivity capabilities, WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, GPS receiver, NFC, and the usual range of sensors.

The phone runs under the latest flavor of the Windows Phone 8 operating system, but also includes a variety of pre-loaded applications from Nokia and Microsoft, such as Nokia Camera, HERE Maps and Navigation, Microsoft Office, and more.
