Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has been long rumored to plan the release of a large Windows Phone 8-based Lumia device, and what appears to be the first leaked photo with it has made an appearance online.

The image, available courtesy of WPCentral, allegedly depicts the yet unofficial handset next to the Nokia Lumia 1020, the 41-megapixel behemoth from the company.

The large Nokia device was recently said to arrive on shelves as Lumia 1520, after being referred to by its codename before, namely Bandit.

The upcoming mobile phone is said to land on shelves with a 6-inch touchscreen display, capable of delivering a full HD resolution, which should result in a great viewing experience to all users.

Furthermore, the smartphone is rumored to sport a polycarbonate body, no metal, and to have a 20-megapixel PureView photo snapper on the back, with a design similar to that of Lumia 925.

Previous reports also suggested that the new handset would be launched with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside.

Nokia Lumia 1520 is also expected to arrive on shelves with Windows Phone 8 GDR3 loaded on top right from the start, given that this platform release will pack support for 1080p screens.

No official confirmation on the device’s specs has been provided as of now, and we should take the details on this smartphone with a grain of salt.

The same applies to the aforementioned leaked photo, which cannot be confirmed as being legit (despite the fact that it sports proto.nokia.com written at the bottom of the screen, a common thing to all Nokia tester devices).

Should previous rumors on the Lumia 1520 pan out, we might see it made official sometime in late September. Furthermore, the smartphone could arrive on shelves in the United States in November, with AT&T being one of the wireless carriers expected to add it to its offering.
