Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is gearing up for the release of Lumia 1020, its latest high-end Windows Phone 8 smartphone, in more markets around the world, and has already confirmed the device’s availability in Canada.

Users in the country will be able to purchase the smartphone on the networks of two wireless carriers, namely Rogers and TELUS, yet no official release date has been provided as of now.

Nokia Lumia 1020 was made official in July with a 41-megapixel PureView camera on the back, bring the first Windows Phone 8 handset out there to pack such a camera.

“We’re excited to announce that the Lumia 1020 will be coming to Canada available on Rogers, TELUS and Black’s,” Nokia Canada announced in a recent tweet.

Nokia Lumia 1020 was already made available for purchase on the North American continent on the network of wireless carrier AT&T in the United States.

Soon, Nokia should start pushing the handset to more markets out there, and Canada is one of the countries confirmed to receive it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Nokia Lumia 1020 was made official with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, as well as with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor packed inside.

Furthermore, the smartphone comes to the market with 2GB of RAM packed inside, 32GB of internal memory (though a 64GB flavor was also announced), and front camera for making video calls.

The Windows Phone 8-based handset also comes with the usual set of connectivity capabilities, including 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB port, and built-in GPS receiver.

On top of all these, there are a series of applications that Nokia has launched specifically for this device, such as Nokia Pro Camera, which is aimed at offering an enhanced camera experience to all users.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long before Nokia offers more details on the landing of Lumia 1020 in Canada, so stay tuned to learn the news.
