Good news for Nokia and AT&T as the latter has silently confirmed that the Lumia 1020 is now out of stock online. This doesn’t come as a surprise at all, as the same has happened with previous Nokia models launched by AT&T, so those with knowledge of the matter would have pre-ordered the Lumia 1020 by now.

According to WMPoweruser, some customers who have pre-ordered the smartphone recently have been informed by AT&T via email that Nokia Lumia 1020 is out of stock and that their handset will go on backorder.

“Thank you for your recent purchase on the AT&T Premier Online Store. We are pleased that you chose AT&T as your wireless service provider.

“Unfortunately, items in your order are out of stock and are backordered. We will ship them as soon as they are available, and notify you of the shipment by email. We will ship multiple backordered items when all items are in stock.”

Those who receive such an email in their inbox can be sure that their handset won’t be shipped on July 23, as AT&T has confirmed on its website.

However, customers who have not pre-ordered the Nokia Lumia 1020 online by now can try their luck at the nearest AT&T brick and mortar store, which will start selling the smartphone in the next few days.

Some AT&T stores will sell the Nokia Lumia 1020, but there’s no telling how many units these stores will have in stock, so it’s better to get yourself in line in order to get your hands on one of them.

Although AT&T has already sold out all Lumia 1020 units allocated to pre-orders, the carrier did not unveil the number of smartphones that were pre-ordered these past few days. Stay tuned for more updates on Nokia Lumia 1020 sales in the US.
