High price and new OS said to be the deal breakers

Last Week, Nokia’s Lumia 1020 smartphone went up for purchase at wireless carrier AT&T, promising great photo snapping and video shooting capabilities, yet it seems that initial demand for it was lower than expected.

Citing R. W. Baird’s William Power, Barron’s reports that store representatives highly recommend the Lumia 1020, especially for its 41-megapixel photo snapper, though users don’t seem to be as impressed with it.

In fact, some reps even suggested that the phone’s $299.99 (€226) contract price was the main deal breaker here, and that some customers expressed concerns regarding the hassle of migrating to a new operating system.

“When asked what was limiting consumer adoption of the 1020, reps commonly cited the $300 price target and consumer concern with switching over to a new OS as the biggest hurdles,” William Power reportedly said.

However, some stores did manage to sell out the Lumia 1020 in the first day, though others claimed that no one had come in to ask specifically about the Windows Phone 8 device.
