Canadian mobile phone users interested in the purchase of the Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone can now reserve the handset via wireless operator Rogers.

The carrier has kicked off the pre-order period for the mobile phone, as can be seen on its website, but it hasn't provided specific info on when it would be put on shelves.

According to MobileSyrup, however, this should happen in a matter of weeks, most probably sometime in early October.

Those who reserve the device on Rogers will also receive a free Camera Grip Case with their devices, as long as they place the order before October 3.

Basically, this suggests that the Windows Phone 8 device will be released soon after the offer ends, perhaps the very next day, on October 4.

“Offer available to new and existing Rogers customers reserving a Nokia Lumia 1020 between September 15 and October 3 through Rogers Reservation System. Nokia Lumia 1020 must be activated in store within 7 days of receiving the Rogers Reservation System shipment notification,” the carrier notes.

Rogers also promises speeds of up to 150 Mbps on its LTE network. However, the actual performance of the handset on the carrier’s network will vary, and users should expect only download speeds between 12 and 40 Mbps.

Nokia Lumia 1020 was made official this summer with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor packed inside, and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone also features 32GB of internal memory, along with the usual set of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and the aforementioned 4G LTE. It also sports a built-in GPS receiver.

The main selling point of Lumia 1020 is its 41-megapixel PureView camera on the back, which features Optical Image Stabilization. It can offer a great imaging experience to all users, and is paired with a front camera to enable video calling while on the go.
