Starting today, mobile phone users in Australia can purchase a new high-end Nokia smartphone on the network of Telstra, namely the Lumia 1020.

The device was initially expected to land on shelves at the wireless carrier in September, but it got delayed by around a month.

However, it is now up for sale at the carrier, and users interested in grabbing it can head over to this page on Telstra’s website to acquire it.

The provider is also offering a free camera grip cover with all purchases, though only as part of a limited time offer, set to end on November 15.

Users will be able to purchase the mobile phone on monthly plans starting at $75 (€53) per month, with a minimum cost of $1,800 (€1,264) over a 24-month term.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nokia Lumia 1020 arrives on the market with a large 41-megapixel camera on the back, capable of delivering a great imaging experience to all users.

“The centrepiece of the 4G-compatible Lumia 1020 is a powerful digital camera that can capture stunning details with the 41 megapixel camera sensor. It has intuitive exposure controls and shutter speeds of up to 1/16,000th of a second,” Telstra explains.

The smartphone also features a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, as well as a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM.

“It’s no slouch in the features department either. The 4.5 inch AMOLED display is made from tough Gorilla Glass and renders photos and videos in brilliant HD. Also, being powered by the Windows Phone 8 operating system, it’s fully furnished with Live Tiles and the latest apps,” Telstra continues.

Nokia also packed the device with 32GB of internal memory, support for 4G LTE networks, and with the usual set of connectivity options: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS receiver, and the like.

The Windows Phone 8-based smartphone also features a variety of exclusive applications coming from Nokia, as well as pre-loaded tutorials to enable users to learn more on how they can take full advantage of the handset’s capabilities.
