Mobile phone users in the UK interested in the purchase of a Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone can now get an idea of how much the device will cost in the country if it is sold free of contract, as retailers have started to list it on their websites.

At the moment, the device can be seen on this page on the website of Unlocked-mobiles, where it features a SIM-free price tag of £549.98 ($844 / €636).

The price tag might seem a bit high, but it is actually the lowest for the moment. For example, Clove UK is listing the handset at £588 ($920 / €680), while Expansys UK has added it to its website at £599 ($919 / €693).

The high-end Windows Phone 8 smartphone was made official last month in black, white and yellow, and is expected to become available for purchase in the UK in September.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone was announced with a 4.5-inch HD touchscreen display, as well as with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside.

Furthermore, the device packs 2GB of RAM (twice the amount that other high-end Windows Phone 8 devices feature) and 32GB of internal memory.

On the back, it sports a 41-megapixel PureView photo snapper, with full HD video recording, optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilization and other features, capable of providing users with one of the best imaging experiences that a smartphone has to offer.

The specifications list of the mobile phone also includes a front camera for video calling, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, NFC, built-in GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.

Furthermore, the Lumia 1020 arrives on shelves with exclusive applications capable of taking full advantage of its camera, as well as with specific software that Nokia usually loads on its Windows Phone devices. It also sports support for Nokia’s HERE mapping and navigation services.
