This week, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has slashed the price tag for its Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone in its homeland market, making it available at only €399 ($550) now.

Previously, the smartphone was available at more than €499 ($689), but users in the country can now buy it for less, until Sunday, April 6, a recent article on esphoneblog reads. Nokia Lumia 1020 can be seen at the new price tag on the website of major retailer Gigantti.

It is not uncommon for mobile phone makers to lower the pricing for their smartphones, and Nokia is no stranger to this either, though it comes as a surprise that it decided to make the move in Finland in the eve of BUILD 2014.

At the conference, which is set to kick off in a matter of hours in San Francisco, Microsoft is expected to unveil the new Windows Phone 8.1 platform, while Nokia might announce brand new devices running under the platform.

Chance are that Nokia Lumia 1020’s price cut has something to do with this as well, though it remains to be seen what exactly Nokia will make official later today.

Some of the latest reports on the matter have suggested that the company will unveil at least two new phones, one called Nokia Lumia 630, and another featuring the name of Nokia Lumia 930 (though the latter might have been delayed by several weeks).
