Nokia Lumia 1020, the Windows Phone 8 smartphone that Nokia is expected to unveil to the world with a 41-megapixel photo snapper on the back, has been seemingly confirmed by the Flickr photo stream of Microsoft’s Windows Phone Manager Joe Belfiore.

Sample photos shot with the device were published there, the EXIF data attached to them shows, clearly pointing at the yet unannounced handset from the Finnish mobile phone maker.

Spotted online quite a few times before, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is said to sport the codename of Nokia EOS, and is currently rumored to make an official appearance on Thursday, during a press event that will take place in New York City.

Two photos that have been taken with the phone’s high-end camera can be seen on Joe Belfiore’s Flickr page, one listed with a 2947 x 1658-pixel resolution, and the other with a 2352 x 1568-pixel one, The Verge notes.

Apparently, both photos have been exported through Adobe Lightroom 5.0, which suggests that they might have been cropped before being published online, SlashGear suggests.

One thing that is certain at the moment is that the Nokia Lumia 1020 is indeed a real device, especially now that it has been mentioned in the EXIF data of said photos (which is unlikely to have been modified, given that they come from a Microsoft boss).

The upcoming device is currently rumored to feature about the same hardware specifications as the Nokia Lumia 920, including a similar outer design, except for the large camera on the back, which also creates a bump in the shell.

However, now it remains to be seen what hardware will actually be included inside the handset, and what software enhancements Nokia will make to it, so as to provide users with the full benefits of the aforementioned 41-megapixel photo snapper. Keep an eye on this space for updates on this.
