14 DAY TRIAL // Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just made a series of updates to some of the software solutions it offers to its users. The new updates come in the form of the Nokia Ovi Player, a software solution previously known as Nokia Music, and a new 7.1.40.1 version for the Nokia PC Suite, which comes with a series of enhancements, among which we can count support for Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system.
According to a recent post on the Ovi Blog, while the new Ovi Player does not come around as a major update for the Nokia Music software, it does sport a series of new features meant to ease its usage. Some of the changes include redesigned player controls, which are now more compact and deliver a better responsiveness when it comes to the volume control and track position selector.
“Ovi Player contains some new views to help you navigate and enjoy your music collection. The ‘recently added’ view is used by many people as a way of keeping track of their new music. This enhanced view shows your recently added music grouped by albums together with cover art. In addition, the introduction of a ‘filter column’ on the detailed view will also help you browse your music collection more easily,” the blog post also states.
It seems that the new Ovi Player can be used with all existing Nokia Music Stores. When viewing a Music Store, users will enjoy an improved browsing experience, due to the fact that the ‘music queue’ can be retracted. In addition, the download progress for getting new songs is showed in a consolidated ‘progress panel’ placed at the bottom of the software solution.
“We’re confident that this is by far the best version of our application yet. We hope you and the millions of other active users continue to enjoy it as we work on the next round of improvements,” the blog post also states. The new Ovi Player comes around with a series of fixes, as well as with some performance enhancements, and it is also the first version of the app to enjoy full support for Windows 7. (Note: It seems that the servers haven't been updated yet, but we're sure Nokia will do so shortly)
