Nokia Launches Gig Finder Application

Fresh from the Nokia Beta Labs comes yet another interesting software solution for users of an S60 5th Edition device, namely the Gig Finder application. According to the developing team, the new app has been designed so as to offer users the possibility to search for concerts/ live music entertainment, get recommendations, or buy tickets directly from their handset.

According to the Nokia Beta Labs, the new Gig Finder app will deliver smart recommendations or the necessary info one is looking for, no matter whether “international music stars, critical darlings, or upcoming buzzmakers” are involved in the deal or not. However, it should be noted that, for the time being, the location relevance for the results the solution provides is only available in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland.

The list of key features the new software solution comes with includes:
- Easy Search. Quickly find where to find the best concerts & other music events near you. Search by artist, genre, city, venue, specific date, date range or a combination of any.
- Buy Tickets. Direct links connect your mobile to various ticket vendors to conveniently find the best seats & prices.
- Smart Recommendations. Get recommendations for live events and venues based on your music tastes (profile & on device music library) and location.
- Get Directions. See where the event is and how to get there with a direct link from Maps. * Start the Buzz. Share information about the gig to Facebook, SMS, or Email.
- Download Music. Events link directly to the artist pages in Nokia Music Store / Ovi Music (when available in your country) so you can preview or download music before or after seeing your favourite artists live.

The new application can already be downloaded and enjoyed on S60 5th Edition handsets like the Nokia N97, N97 mini, X6, 5800, 5530 and 5230. According to Nokia Beta Labs, the app will continue to be developed mainly based on the feedback it sees from users, and that also applies to the availability of info on live events in countries other than the aforementioned ones. The Gig Finder application will connect via the default Internet access point, the developing team notes.
