Nokia Is China's English Teacher

Nokia makes English learning easy and accessible

Nokia will be offering from now on English lessons for Chinese people through a mobile phone service. With Mobiledu, anybody living in China will have easy and fast access to courses for rapid English learning.

Nokia has seen the high interest coming from
Chinese people for foreign cultures as an opportunity for a new service. This means that the continuously growing learning market in China will now have the possibility of easier embracing another language ensured.

Moreover, the Olympic Games will take place at Beijing next year. This means that even more people will have to learn English at a fast pace in order to best communicate with the flux of foreigners coming for the game. This regards normal people, but especially businessmen that will seek financial gaining from the interactions they will have with the visitors.

"We start here because we see education as very important to Chinese culture. Together with the trend of mobility, we think this is a good time to launch the service", said Arko Vanska, director of Nokia's emerging business unit in China. Even more, he did not exclude the possibility of taking this service at an even higher level and offering it to the people outside China if it proves successful.

Mobiledu will include both audio and text-based lessons, in order to help the mobile phone user with his pronunciation as well as with reading and writing. What makes this software promising is exactly the fact that it can be used in any place and at any time. This will bring a new dimension to learning foreign languages, due to the high accessibility that it offers.

Nokia hopes that these English lessons will be highly profitable, considering the fact that China's learning market is expected to reach almost 4 billion USD by 2010.
