Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia officially announced the upcoming availability of two new portable chargers, namely the DT-601 and the DC-19.

DT-601 was announced as a wireless charger, packing the same features as its predecessor, the DT-900, but in a smaller, lighter package.

Furthermore, the new product is more affordable than the previous one, and is meant to offer a more playful approach to wireless charging.

“The DT-601 is small and round with identical bright colours to what we see in the Lumia family. Because it’s so small and colourful it looks very cute; a bit like a lollipop,” Jaakko Huokkola, product manager for Wireless Charging at Nokia, said.

The new charger is only 65mm in diameter and less than 9mm thick, and comes with a 1.5-meter USB-A cable attached to it.

Users will be able to plug it into any USB device or wall plug with a USB-A port. Moreover, they are provided with the possibility to wrap up any excess cable with a little strap.

“The materials used in the DT-601 feel soft. It’s still made out of polycarbonate, but there’s a soft coating that’s much more natural and feels good in your hand. This new material feels smooth but also provides some extra grip for the phone that’s placed on top of it,” Nokia Conversations explains.

The new DT-601 is Qi-compatible, which means that it can be used with any wireless charging products from Nokia that come with support for Qi. It is compatible with devices from other manufacturers as well.

DT-601 is set to land on the market in Asia-Pacific in September, and should arrive in Europe and America soon after. It will be priced at €29 ($38), in yellow, cyan, bright red, black, and white color flavors.

DC-19, on the other hand, has been launched as a universal portable USB charger. The main feature of this device is the fact that it is rechargeable.

It comes with a 3200 mAh battery inside and is 99.5mm long and 25.4mm in diameter. Fully charged, it offers a standby time of over six months.

The charger also comes with LED indicator lights that were designed to provide users with info on its battery level.

“To charge the DC-19, simply plug in like you would your phone, using a data cable or the wall charger,” Nokia Conversations explains.

“When it comes to using the DC-19 to charge your phone, reverse the cable and plug the USB end into the charger, with the other smaller end going into your phone. The DC-19 will charge any device that supports microUSB charging.”

Also priced at €29 ($38), the DC-19 will be released before the end of this month in three color flavors, including cyan, white, and yellow. Matching USB – microUSB cables will also be provided.
