Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has announced the availability of a new application and service for its Windows Phone-powered Lumia devices, namely Nokia Xpress.

Currently available in a beta flavor, Xpress was designed to take advantage of the cloud to provide internet browsing optimizations, offering data savings and delivering a better experience than before.

Nokia Express is handset’s vendor cloud service used to power the Nokia Asha devices, and already has millions of users all around the world, the Finnish company notes.

With Xpress, web pages are rendered in the cloud, thus minimizing the use of cellular data and providing users with the possibility to get the most out of their data plans.

The newly announced Xpress for Lumia takes advantage of the Nokia Xpress cloud, while bringing into the mix the features and capabilities of Windows Phone, along with services such as SkyDrive.

Combined, all of these work together to deliver a new kind of Internet app, one that enables Lumia owners to get the most out of their devices.

With the new Xpress for Lumia, users will benefit from important money and time savings, as the service is capable of compressing data by up to 85 percent.

Moreover, it will also provide users with fast access to content they are interested in, while enabling them to easily find more around the web and share content with their friends and family over social networks.

With Xpress for Lumia, users should be able to do more when online, Nokia notes, adding that all these features are meant to provide users with a unique Nokia experience on Windows Phone.

Some of the functionality it will offer includes Data Usage Monitoring, Saved Pages, Save to SkyDrive, Magazine feature, QuickLinks, Smart & Easy Discovery, and Translations.

You can find the new application in the Nokia Beta Labs today, should you be interested in taking it for a spin. Nokia also encourages users to provide feedback on their experience with the software, so that enhancements could be brought to it.
