A simple collaboration and sharing tool

The Nokia Beta Labs announced on Tuesday the launch of a new service for mobile users, the Nokia Easy Meet, an intuitive collaboration tool that can offer real-time content sharing via both mobile devices and PCs. In addition, it seems that the new service has been developed so as to provide ease of use, and it doesn't require a software download for you to benefit from it.

Those interested in using the service will need to have an Internet connection to access it, and they can easily create meetings via the Nokia Easy Meet URL from either a mobile phone or a PC. The collaboration tool can support both regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings. Each participant receives an email or an SMS as soon as a meeting is created, and the content shared by the host can then be viewed by all of them. The shared content can be either from the host's device or from remote servers, according to Nokia Beta Labs. Mobile phone users are offered the possibility to fully participate in the service through Nokia Easy Meet, a feature that differentiates it from other web-based collaboration tools. Users are allowed to “see, interact with, and share content on or from the device.”

The feature list of Easy Meet includes File Sharing, support for PPT, JPEG and PNG, Chat, Meeting Minutes, Whiteboard, Gesturing, File Downloads, Participant Awareness, Remote Content Access (OVI Files), while access to a conference, including voice ones, is granted through a single click.

The Nokia Easy Meet allows users to collaborate either for work or for fun no matter their location or the device they have to use. One thing that should be noted though is that the service doesn't work with Internet Explorer 6. Those willing to try Nokia Easy Meet can find it here.
