Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just announced the introduction of a new handset to its offering, the Dual SIM Nokia X1-01, along with the first shipments of the already official Dual SIM Nokia C2-00.

These are Dual SIM, Dual-Standby devices, which offer users the possibility to choose which SIM card to use for calls, messages and more, while receiving notifications for both of them at the same time.

The best part of the deal is, of course, the fact that one would be able to switch from one SIM to the other without having to switch the device off. Both the Nokia X1-01 and Nokia C2-00 come with these capabilities, while sporting low price tags.

The battery life of these phones is impressive, with Nokia X1-01 boasting 43 days standby time and 13 hours talk time, while the Nokia C2-00 can offer 19.2 days standby time, or 5.75 hours talk time.

“Both devices are aimed at developing markets where, often, a steady and reliable power supply isn’t yet a reality. The daily top-up that many smartphone users in other regions have become used to isn’t always an option in some parts of the world,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

Based on the Series 30 operating system, the Nokia X1-01 also comes with music capabilities, with a massive speaker on the back, which would be able to deliver loudness similar with larger devices would.

“The speaker has also been specially tuned so that there’s little distortion, even when turned up to eleven. The Nokia X1-01 has in fact got the loudest and clearest speaker Nokia has ever produced,” the said post continues.

The specifications list of the new device would include up to 16GB of storage through a microSD memory card slot, FM radio and MP3 music player (dedicated music keys), and a 3.5mm AV jack.

The device would also offer users the possibility to store settings for up to five separate SIM cards, and to set a specific logo, music signature or ringtone for each and every one of them.

The Nokia C2-00, running under Series 40, offers Internet access, a web browser and Nokia Messaging, MMS messaging, VGA camera, and a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The Nokia X1-01 and Nokia C2-00 will hit certain markets with Ovi Life Tools on them. They should arrive in India, China, South-East Asia/Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, Eurasia and Brazil in Q2.

Nokia X1-01 will cost €34, while C2-00 will cost €45, before local taxes or subsidies.
