Nokia has just unveiled its latest masterpiece - Nokia X3, which comes with an innovative “Touch and Type” design. The super slim gadget combines the touch screen feature with the traditional 12 button phone keypad, and the aluminum build on the back

Together with the X3, the Finnish giant handset manufacturer launches a new 'Touch and Type' series of phones. It seems that Nokia intended to take something familiar and transform it into something new and innovative.

"Innovation is not just a high-end game. The Nokia X3 is a great example of bringing new consumer value to lower price points," said Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia.

"With the Nokia X3 we are giving consumers the best of both worlds by combining a touch screen and a keypad in an affordable device. We have given people a larger screen with clear icons and menus plus kept critical keys such as the send and end keys. We've also added dedicated function keys for important links like music and text messaging," she said.

Nokia X3 is only 9.6mm thick, it measures 106.2x48.4mm and weighs about 78g (including battery). The handset comes with Nokia's S40 interface and a 2.4-inches QVGA resistive touch-screen supporting 262k colors.

Other features of the phone include: 3G and HSPA connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 5.0-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, and microSD card slot for memory expansion.

In addition, depending on the location, Nokia X3 Touch and Type will also be available with Ovi Music Unlimited, enabling the owner to access a virtually limitless range of the latest hit music that can be stored on the available 16GB memory card.

"Our research tells us consumers who have invested years in becoming fast one-handed, one-thumb texters want to maintain their speedy edge for SMS, chat and instant messaging - yet enjoy the benefits of touch as well," continued McDowell.

The new handset is advertised together with the Nokia Mini Speaker MD-11, which is a pocket-sized speakers that should improve the phones speaker sound. The Nokia Mini Speaker MD-11 is estimated to retail for EUR 25 excluding taxes and subsidies.

Nokia X3 is expected to be on sale in the third quarter and should be available for approximately EUR 125, excluding taxes and subsidies. The feature phone is available in five vibrant colors: White Silver, Dark Metal, Petrol Blue, Pink, Lilac.
