Nokia India Releases E61i Smartphone

After almost two years since its release, E91i arrives in India too

Nokia E61i is the fourth smartphone that Nokia has released in India up to now. This handset has been available since the end of 2005, but has managed to reach this market only now.

The small number of smartphones that Nokia has released until now in India comes as a result of the fact that the highest sales figures have been reached through low-end mobile phones until now. Still, India also has a highly

economically evolved market share which asks for devices capable of high performances.

Nokia E61i is a business smartphone designed especially to provide advanced features to its users. The mobile phone is one of the slimmest such evolved devices, at only 14 mm in thickness. Moreover, it comes equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard and a display screen capable of rendering up to 16M colors on a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels.

This smartphone works on Symbian OS 9.1, series 60 UI. Still, Nokia E61i is especially designed for the evolved email and instant messaging capabilities. It supports a large number of email clients in order to connect to personal and business email. Moreover, it also comes with the possibility of supporting major instant messaging clients, such as Yahoo!, AOL and OMA.

"The launch of Nokia E61i smartphone will enable the workforce experience a full range of mobile email features apart from increasing their productivity, improving business communication and optimizing the costs", observed Mr. Chakrapani GK, Country General Manager, Nokia Enterprise Solutions.

This smartphone comes with a built in memory of 60MB but also supports microSD cards of up to 2GB. Moreover, it has a five-way Nokia NaviTM key with customizable soft keys, power key available to be used as a profile key and My Own key. All these features are meant to make navigation considerably easier and provide easy actions to specific functions.

The Nokia E61i smartphone is now available in India too for the average price of USD 420.
