Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has kicked off a new promotion for mobile phone users in India, in an attempt to attract as many of them to its Nokia Lumia smartphones: it is offering 20GB of free cloud storage with the purchase of a new device.

The storage is available on Microsoft’s SkyDrive service (which will soon become OneDrive), and is available for all those who will grab a new Lumia smartphone by February 10, 2014.

After buying the phone, users will have to register it, and Nokia will send them a unique code that can be used to redeem the free cloud storage, it seems.

“Treat yourself to a new Nokia Lumia phone and we’ll give you 20 GB of extra SkyDrive storage free for a year. That’s 20 GB more space for all your photos, documents and files that you can access from anywhere. Act fast to take advantage of this amazing offer,” the company notes on its website.

As mentioned above, users will have to purchase a new Lumia handset until February 10 to benefit from the deal. Then, they should wait for four days before heading over to this page on Nokia’s website to register for the free offer (they should do this by February 15, 2014).

Next, Nokia will send them the aforementioned code, which can be redeemed by February 28. The code will be sent via email, the company notes.

Users should keep in mind that the free storage is available only for one year. After that, they will need to purchase a subscription to continue to benefit from it.

“This is an optional, limited period offer which only applies to original purchases of the specified Nokia Lumia Smartphone models from authorized retailers in India,” the company explains.

The good news, however, is the fact that all Lumia smartphones available in India are eligible for the free storage space, except for the Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 525, the company announced.

Those of you interested in taking advantage of the deal should head over to Nokia India’s website to read the full terms and conditions.
