Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia has announced not to long ago that it will not be present at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year, yet it seems that it still has something planned for Barcelona during the time frame. The company intends to hold a Connecting people event in February, a private manifestation, apart form “the noise and crowds at Mobile World Congress,” it says.
The event will be held on February 15 and 16 next year, in a comfortable setting, a few steps away from the Mobile World Congress, namely at Once, the home of the Spanish National Organization for the Blind.

“Connecting people has always been at the heart of the Nokia brand. Connecting people means giving everyone the power to choose when and how to stay in touch with the things that matter most in their lives, so that they can make the most out of every moment. Imagine an entire planet where people, places and information are seamlessly connected; where communications devices and services are such an integral and indispensable part of our lives that they really do become second nature. Making this world come true will require tremendous collaboration between industry players. That’s why we’re proud to offer the collaborative environment of the Nokia lounge,” the company says on its Events website.

Nokia also announced that it would hold a press conference at the location of the Connecting People event on February 15 from 11.30am to 12.30pm CET. After the conference, the worldwide leading handset vendor has put in place a series of “breakout presentations and interview opportunities with senior Nokia executives and subject matter experts.” In addition, the company will hold a Nokia Siemens Networks media and industry analyst briefing on February 15, starting with 10.30am CET. Other details on Nokia's plans for the Connecting people event in Barcelona lack at the moment, yet the company intends to unveil more in the near future, so stay tuned.
