Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced last year a bold plan to adopt Microsoft’s Windows Phone as its primary mobile OS for smartphones.

Many believed that it would fail, mostly due to the little relevance the platform has on the mobile phone market at the moment.

Should Windows Phone fail, however, the company does have a contingency plan, Nokia’s Chairman Risto Siilasmaa confirmed during a recent interview. What he did not unveil was what this plan B would involve.

However, the handset vendor is still confident in its ability to regain foothold with help coming from Microsoft’s mobile OS, it seems.

Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, said that a few times before, and the fact that Nokia is one of the vendors first to debut Windows Phone 8 devices confirms it.
