Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reportedly gearing up for the release of a software update for the recently launched Nokia Lumia 800.

Reportedly, the new update will bring along the Windows Phone 7.5 build 7740 OS flavor and all of the improvements that have been included inside it.

At the same time, the new software update comes along with a series of enhancements from Nokia themselves.

Apparently, in addition to a series of fixes for various issues that have been reported with Microsoft Exchange 2003, the new software update will also resolve a problem with the voicemail notification.

Moreover, Nokia packed the new update with a series of enhancements to the battery life of Nokia Lumia 800, which should improve its performance in certain circumstances.

It seems that the handset has had some issues with the battery after being fully discharged.

A recent article on winrumors notes that the new software update is currently in carrier testing, and that it should start arriving on devices in the near future.

The news site also claims that there will be a series of applications included in the update, and that they already had the chance to have a look at them, since Nokia installed the new build on their review unit.

Among these applications, we can count British Airways, eBay, Ministry of Sound, Sky News and TripAdvisor, all being pushed to users in the UK.

As soon as the new update is installed on the device, users should see their handsets running under Windows Phone version 7.10.7740.16.

Nokia Lumia 800 went on sale in a series of markets in Europe only two days ago, and Nokia claims that the initial demand for it was great.

The fact that it is determined to deliver software updates for the handset so fast will certainly help it gain more users on its side, though it remains to be seen whether the phone will indeed prove as popular as Nokia wants it to be.
