It seems that the release date for the high-end Nokia N8 has been finally nailed down, and that we should learn about it officially in the near future.

The world-wide leading handset vendor is reportedly set to make the N8 available for purchase some September 30, at least this is what Finnish newspaper Kauppalehti claims.

According to them, the release date for the high-end mobile phone was confirmed by Tapani Kaskinen, who is Nokia's Senior Comms Manager, which means that there are little chances that things are otherwise.

As a recent article on Engadget notes, the info comes to us via a translation machine, and mistakes happen there, as it recently happened with the LG E900, but chances are that it would all prove real in the end.

Moreover, the launch date is line with what we've learned before on the new device, namely the fact that it should land in the UK on September 23rd, while being launched on other markets one week later.

On the other hand, a recent post on E's Phone Blog suggests that the actual release date of Nokia N8 in Finland would be September 28th, or at least this would be the day when the handset would ship to those who already pre-ordered it.

All in all, it seems that Nokia would indeed start shipping this behemoth before September is over, offering users the possibility to try out the new Symbian^3 OS.

When arriving on the market, the N8 would also deliver a large touchscreen display, a 12MP camera on the back, and enough storage space to carry multimedia files.

The handset was announced officially as headed for the market before the end of the summer, but it seems that Nokia had to delay it about one month.

Following its landing on the market, we should see other Symbian^3-based handsets from Nokia made available, though none in the high-end N Series, it seems.
