Nokia E90 Communicator Is Out!

- The rumor seems to be true

By: Sergiu Gatlan, Communications News Editor

Last time we heard about Nokia's E90 Communicator, we had only some leaked sketches to look at. Even if they were only sketches, they looked pretty promising and they were surrounded by a big cloud of rumors concerning the future to be launched handset.

At that time, those rumors were mentioning HSPDA, EDGE, UMTS and WiFi capabilities, a 2 megapixel digital camera and, as a bonus, miniUSB connectivity support. The new rumors
are now "upgrading" its camera to 3.2 megapixel and the leaked photos that are the main source of this article are showing a nice and big display probably capable of displaying the long awaited 800 x 352 pixels resolution.

From the attached photos (I have to thank the guys from engadget.com and their source "Brando" for them) one is able to show that the device has kept the overall look we are used to in Nokia's Communicator devices, a look that is now accentuated by a nice silver edge.

The handset also looks to feature a dual hinge, a fact that makes it the first "Origami Edition" Nokia Communicator device out there. This means you will be able to flip it, flop it and flap it as long as you like and until you're satisfied and feel comfortable using it.

The new set of rumors circulating also tell us the E90 is going to run on an S60 OS, this probably meaning it will also come with the delays and the hassle every S60 user has gotten used to. At least it won't run Windows Mobile and you won't have to see that nice hole on the outside of the handset allowing you to reset the handset because it has crashed again :). One thing is for sure: I will always prefer to wait a little instead of needing to reset the device randomly to be able to use it.

Until something else about this subject will surface, let's just sit tight and wait for an official preview at the 3GSM convention as Nokia has promised. If that won't happen either, at least we got to see how the E90 looks like.

Hopefully, this isn't another scam as the Apple letter to the FCC was because I'm sure everyone had its fair share of practical jokes until now.
