Nokia E7, the latest Symbian^3 device that the Finnish handset vendor Nokia brought to the market, is receiving a new software update as we speak, offering a series of improvements to its users.

The new software arrives on the device as firmware version 14.002 (PR 1.1), following the availability of firmware 13.016 (PR 1.0) on this device.

The new software update reportedly weighs in at 907 kb, and is being pushed to users over the air (OTA).

Those interested in giving it a try should fire up the 'SW update' application on their handsets, search for it, download it and install it.

The new software arrive on Nokia E7 handsets only a few weeks after the device became available for purchase, and includes only a small amount of enhancements.

Apparently, users who would download and install it on their Nokia E7 devices would enjoy a series of minor performance improvements, complemented by a list of bug fixes.

Nokia E7 users would be informed on the availability of the new software for their devices, and they would be prompted to download and install it automatically.

However, provided that this does not happen, they can always perform a manual update, just as described above.

Users should also take into consideration the fact that Nokia is usually making software updates available for users in different markets at different moments in time, and that carrier branded handsets usually receive the new software at a later date.

We should also note that the new software update is reportedly a step forward in the evolution of Symbian^3 on Nokia's latest devices.

The firmware previously available on the Nokia E7, namely PR 1.0 (version 13.x), is the equivalent of the PR 1.1 release (firmware version 13.x) that Nokia pushed a while ago on its N8, C7 and C6-01 devices.

All in all, this is only a minor software update for Nokia E7, though major ones should also be released, even if the handset vendor adopted Microsoft's Windows Phone platform.
