The long awaited Nokia E7 smartphone has been officially introduced in India during an event held at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Announced by D. Shivakumar Vice President and Managing Director at Nokia India, who rang the closing bell at the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), the E7 will be available from Nokia stores starting this week for Rs. 29,999.

In addition, a partnership between the Finnish manufacturer and Vodafone has been announced, which will offer customers 2GB of data per month free, for six months.

Furthermore, it seems that for unknown reasons, Nokia has decided to drop the initial price of the unlocked version of E7 from Rs. 35,019 to Rs. 29,999 (about $665).

Consumers today seek a device that allows them to do a lot more, both in their personal and professional lives. Nokia E7 is an all-in-one business smartphone that offers a superior mobile office experience coupled with compelling entertainment options,” said D. Shivakumar.

The Nokia E7 has a large 4-inch ClearBlack display and runs on Symbian^3 mobile platform. It features a side-sliding full QWERTY keyboard, so users can enjoy advanced input options.

Users can also head over to the company's official website to reserve their Nokia E7 unit, it seems.

Some of the strong points of the Nokia E7 include the 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, as well as WiFi and HSDPA connectivity capabilities.

The Symbian^3-powered smartphone also provides access to the Ovi Store, where users can find various Symbian applications available for download. The smartphone is now available in India in dark grey and silver white color schemes.

As a reminder, the Nokia E7 smartphone was available for online pre-order since March 8th and required customers to deposit Rs. 3000 upon filling an online form, along with their preference of the nearest Nokia store.
