Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just decided to release a new software update for one of its popular handset, namely the Nokia E52. The new firmware solution available for the device is version 31.012, which is available for download for those interested in it via a computer, through the Nokia Software Updater.

For the time being, it seems that there are no official details on what has been changed from the older 21.010 version to the new one, but All About Symbian says that there are a series of minor bug fixes, though nothing major. However, some improvements and version updates for the applications on the handset are also mentioned, including some for Web, Email, Music Store, Maps.

Other enhancements that Nokia E52 is said to have received via the new firmware update include updated noise cancellation parameters for the device, something that should result in better audio quality during calls. Those interested in the update should be able to get it via the NSU application on their computers. One thing that should be noted is that a backup of all data on the phone is recommended prior to launching the update process, just to make sure that all goes well.

Those who kept an eye on the latest news on Nokia might have learned already that the company has recently released a new version of Ovi Maps for some of its devices, and that the new flavor offers free navigation. The new Ovi Maps 3.03 can be enjoyed on Nokia E52, E55, E72, 6710 Navigator, 6730 classic, 5800 XpressMusic running under firmware v31.0.008 and newer, 5230, X6, N97 with software version v20.0.019 or newer, and N97 Mini.

The free Ovi Maps have already become popular among Nokia smartphone users around the world, and, if there are those who haven't tried it yet, they can get the application on their device through launching Applications > SW update and downloading and installing the update by selecting Options > Start update. Nokia E52 owners should upgrade to the new firmware before being able to enjoy the free Ovi Maps, it seems.
