A new flavor of the Nokia Diagnostics mobile application was made available for download for Nokia devices running under the S60 5.0 platform, namely Nokia Diagnostics 1.74.
The new application release comes with a load of enhancements, including various new tests, so that users take a look at more aspects of their devices.
“We’re happy to announce a major upgrade of the Nokia Diagnostics application for c devices,” Sami Halinen, Nokia Diagnostics team, notes in a recent post on Nokia Beta Labs.
“The new version contains more extensive set of tests to help you to figure out where the problem may be. New version also contains the advanced mode functionality for techie users and possibility to run all tests or all subcategory of tests. The look and feel has also been improved.”
While this application was meant only for S60 5.0 devices, the release of a software for Symbian^3 devices is also planned, it seems.
At the same time the development team announced that they are set to enhance the application as much as possible, and not only on making it available on as many devices as possible, thus planning to discontinue to update the 3.2 version.
The new Nokia Diagnostics 1.74 application flavor arrived on devices with the following list of tests included in the package: Vibrating alert, Memory, Battery charger, Memory card, Cameras, Keypad, Screen, USB cable, Web browser, Network coverage, Data coverage, GPS, Earpiece, Microphone, Loudspeaker, and Headset.
The new release was already tested on a number of devices based on S60 5.0, including Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6, and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Take a look at the video below to learn more on the application.
“We do recommend you to check that your device is running the latest software before trying it out since some older device software versions can potentially cause undesirable behavior,” the development team notes.
