Nokia Lumia 1520, the latest flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone from the Finnish mobile phone maker, will arrive on shelves this week with a large 6-inch touchscreen, and Nokia claims that this is the best display it has loaded on a handset.

Lumia 1520 sports the largest screen present on a Lumia smartphone to date, while also being the first Nokia handset with “Assertive Display” technology, and is capable of providing users with a rich, full HD experience on the go.

“In terms of technology and providing a great experience to our customers, the Nokia Lumia 1520 has the best screen we’ve ever created,” says Jussi Ropo, Nokia Display and Touch technology manager, a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

According to Jussi Ropo, the display was developed as a culmination of Nokia’s expertise in the field of touchscreens. The Assertive Display on this device works at an individual pixel level, which should make the screen more readable when compared to other devices.

Basically, this means that, when content on the screen is darker on one side, the pixels are stimulated differently, so as to deliver maximum visibility and quality.

“Assertive Display is based on how the human visual system works. It processes the image in real time, just as your eye does,” Jussi also said.

“Hardware is one critical element in the solution but the other equally important one is how you use it. What really makes the feature perfect are careful integration to existing automatic brightness control functionality and rigorous parameter tuning.”

The display has been optimized to deliver a great experience even when using the smartphone outdoors, while also packing enhancements related to low-light conditions. Basically, the screen adjusts itself depending on the environment, so as to offer an optimal experience in all situations.

Nokia Lumia 1520 will provide users with the possibility to view more content on its display, including an extra column of tiles on the Start screen, thus keeping them in the loop with more info than before.

Overall, as Jussi notes, the new smartphone was designed to allow users more, regardless of where they are and the light conditions around them, in addition to delivering clearer, sharper images to them.
