20 is a round number and an achievement worthy of celebration, coming from Nokia. YouthActionNet has just reached this number of young social entrepreneurs involved in the program's activities.

YouthActionNet Fellows is a program that invests in the power of young people to create positive change for the society that they live in. Their work involves choosing an innovative approach for creating a connection with other people and changing their lives in a positive way.

Leaving behind something that you can be proud of doing is one goal that many people struggle to achieve in one way or another. Nokia can also account for that, with this initiative that they have deployed with this project going beyond the publicity they are receiving for it.

"Each of this year's Fellows has succeeded in creating and managing a social venture, achieving lasting impact with limited resources", said IYF President and CEO William S. Reese. "In remarkable ways, they have applied the spirit of entrepreneurship to garner public support for the causes they feel passionate about", he further declared.

Fellows are chosen annually following a peer review process in which previous Fellows select the next round of winners. Each receives a total of USD 500 in order to support their efforts. The 2007 Global YouthActionNet Fellows will take its new members to Washington, USA in November for a one week leadership retreat. Their efforts will receive appreciation at the Annual YouthActionNet Global Awards Ceremony, where there will also be present leading international organizations.

The YouthActionNet Fellows program has been launched at the beginning of year 2002. It has had, over the years, 120 young social entrepreneurs selected for a total of more than 3000 people in over 60 countries across the world. More information on this process can be found at the YouthActionNet website.
