Nokia has just released the official Car application for Windows Phone devices. This is something that the Finnish company should have launched long ago, but for unknown reasons, it got pushed back.

Anyway, Windows Phone fans will now be pleased to know that they will be able to use their smartphones for quick access to information without having to hold them in their hands.

The Car Mode integrated within the Nokia Lumia smartphones will be enabled once the device is placed onto the wireless CR-200 car mount and the NFC (Near Field Communication) is activated.

As WMPoweruser points out, Nokia Car app users will be able to access Nokia Music, HERE Drive +, calls, messages and weather.

Although the Car mode has been included within the Nokia Accessories app in the Lumia smartphones, this function can’t be manually activated until the new application is installed on the phones.

Once the Nokia Car application is downloaded and installed on a Lumia smartphone, the Car mode automatically enables to offer all the promised features.

Keep in mind though that the official Nokia Car application is only compatible with Lumia smartphones. It is also worth mentioning that the app won’t work on smartphones that do not run at least Windows Phone 8. You can now download Nokia Car App for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store.
