Starting today, all owners of a Nokia Lumia smartphone running under the Windows Phone 8 platform can enjoy the benefits of the Nokia Camera Beta application.

In a recent post on the Nokia Beta labs blog, the team of developers behind the application notes that the beta flavor of the application can be used simultaneously with the commercial Nokia Camera version.

Basically, the new app iteration includes support for Lumia 520, Lumia 521, Lumia 620, Lumia 625, Lumia 720, Lumia 810, Lumia 820, and Lumia 822 devices.

Furthermore, the software provides users with the possibility to set it as the default camera app, which should allow them to launch it with a press on the hardware shutter button.

“With this beta you will also get frequent updates with the latest features and improvements, but there could be bugs,” the team also notes.

Those who would like to download and install the application are also encouraged to provide feedback on the experience they receive, so that bugs can be fixed and more enhancements included.

“Either post on our forum or go to the Feedback section in the app and let us know what you think. We are interested in feedback about the overall usability of the app on all Lumia phones as well as verification of the latest fixes and improvements we do,” the blog post continues.

The Nokia Camera Beta app is currently available for download as standalone software for all the Lumia smartphones that are running under the Lumia Amber or Lumia Black software releases.

Lumia users can verify the firmware version on their handsets by going to Settings > Extras + info. Provided that their phones require updating, they should go to Settings > Phone Update to see whether a new release is available for them.

Those with smartphones running under the aforementioned OS versions can now download the Nokia Camera Beta application from Softpedia.
