Nokia Camera, one of the most popular applications available on the Windows Phone-based Lumia smartphones out there, has received a new update today.

Currently available for download as version 4.7.2.5, the new Nokia Camera app iteration appears to bring along a nice set of enhancements, which should provide users with a far better experience when compared to what was available for them before.

The release notes for the new app version unveil that Microsoft Mobile has included support for Living Images in the software.

The feature made it in the beta version of the application sometime in mid-May, but the stable flavor of the software has received it only today.

As for Living Images, it will allow users to easily add motion to their photos, though only a small number of handsets support the functionality at the moment.

The same applies to another new feature available in Nokia Camera now, namely continuous autofocus, which will ensure faster focusing than before.

“Living Images and continuous autofocus are supported on Lumia 930, 1520 and Icon running the Lumia Cyan software update,” the application’s description explains.

The video recording capabilities of the software have been enhanced as well in the new app release, now providing users with surround sound in video capture.

On top of that, the available release notes unveil that there’s a new camera roll available for Lumia users, providing them with full resolution zoom and inline playback of videos, cinemagraphs, smart sequences, and Refocus images.

Moreover, the Nokia Camera is now integrated with Nokia Creative Studio and Nokia Video Trimmer, which will allow users to edit their photos and videos much easier than before.

“To get the latest software update for your phone, go to Settings > Phone Update. Nokia Camera works best on phones running the Lumia Cyan software update, but it also works with limited functionality on phones with the Lumia Amber update or later,” Nokia has unveiled.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Nokia Cyan software update hasn’t been officially released as of now, though it is expected to start arriving on smartphones in the not-too-distant future.

Based on the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, the platform was actually loaded on the Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 635, which have already landed on shelves, and will be installed right out of the box on Nokia Lumia 930 as well.

You can download Nokia Camera 4.7.2.5 for Windows Phone from Softpedia today. The app is compatible only with Windows Phone 8 and newer platform iterations.
