A new Nokia smartphone might be on its way to AT&T's airwaves in the United States, at least this is what some info extracted from the recent announcement regarding the 2010 Calling All Innovators competition shows.

It seems that Nokia and AT&T are aiming at releasing a Symbian^3-based handset in the US in early 2011, and that this smartphone might be either the Nokia C6-01 or the Nokia C7, both unveiled only last week during the Nokia World 2010 event in London.

Info on the matter comes from a recent post on Nokia Experts, pointing towards parts of the “Official Rules for the 2010 Nokia Calling All Innovators North America Contest,” which suggest that things might be this way.

“Nokia will release a new device (“New Device”) in the United States which is compatible with Apps developed for the N8, in early 2011 (“Release Date”),” the said rules note at one point..

Moreover, the rules point towards the retail value of a handset that would be offered to winners, which is of $400 USD / $418 CAD.

“Each of the verified Eligible Entrants […] (two different categories were named here) will receive a New Symbian^3 Device. Approximate retail value (“ARV’) for each New Symbian^3 Device $400 USD / $418 CAD,” one can read from the contest rules.

Based on this facts, the guys over at The Nokia Blog concluded that we're looking at the newly unveiled Nokia C6-01 handset being mentioned here, though the Nokia C7 might be a possibility too.

The Nokia C6-01 was announced with a price tag of 260 Euros attached to it, which is around $346 USD, the news site notes, adding that the retail price of this device might near than $400 USD limit Nokia refers to.

Some suggested that the device in question might be the Nokia N8 but, considering the fact that this mobile phone has a price tag of $549 attached to it, there are little chances that it would be the phone in question.

Not to mention that Nokia plans on bringing N8 to the US market in a few weeks, while the said contest rules point towards an early 2011 launch.

For what it's worth, there are little details available on this at the moment, and chances are that things would actually turn out a quite different way, so stay tuned for more on this.
