Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just started shipping the third handset it brought to the market during the ongoing year with the new Symbian^3 operating system on board, namely the Nokia C6-01. Previously, the company announced that the flagship Nokia N8 device, along with the Nokia C7 smartphone, started shipping too.

The new Nokia C6-01 sports a great deal of features that were packed inside the NokiaC7 too, though it sports a more affordable price tag.

Moreover, the new smartphone comes with a series of features that were included with the high-end Nokia N8 too, some of which are powered by the new Symbian^3 OS, it seems.

Since the new mobile phone is already on its way to retailers out there, is should not be too long before the first units make it to shelves around the world.

“The Nokia C6-01 is designed for the consumer who wants to stay on top of their social life while on the go,” said Jo Harlow, head of smartphones.

“The new Symbian platform makes social networking fast and easy, while from the design point of view the Nokia C6-01 fits perfectly in your palm. Even the smallest of hands can reach every corner of the screen!”

The hardware specifications of Nokia C6-01 include a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touch-screen packed in a device that measures 103.8 x 52.5 x 13.9mm and weighs in at 131g.

On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, dual-LED flash, and HD (720p) video recording capabilities.

The smartphone comes with 340MB of internal memory, though a microSD memory card enables users to expand it to up to 32GB (a 2GB card included in the box).

With the new device, users would also enjoy 3G connectivity options, as well as WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities, and GPS receiver.

The phone also includes support for Ovi Maps, while offering extra apps from Ovi Store, and the possibility to download songs from Ovi Music.
