It looks like Bell Canada is about to strengthen its smartphone lineup with yet another Symbian device, the Nokia C6-01. The handset is a high-end successor of the Nokia C6-00, which is currently sold by Bell for 249.95 without a contract or given for free for those who sign up for a 3-year plan.

According to MobileSyrup, Nokia C6-01 might be launched by Bell in March, but the pricing is still unknown.

As confusing as it may be, the C6-01 is a huge step forward compared with the C6-00, when it comes to hardware and software specs.

Perhaps the carrier will take into consideration the fact that both devices feature almost identical names and will release the C6-01 under a more appealing label.

Nokia C6-01 was officially announced in September 2010 and released on the market one month later, in November.

That means that the smartphone will reach Canadians after almost four months, which comes to no surprise, as the Finnish manufacturer is known for not focusing on the North American handset market.

The device is powered by an ARM 11 680 MHz processor and runs on the Symbian^3 platform. It comes with a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 360 x 640 pixels resolution.

Other screen-related features include Nokia ClearBlack display, multi-touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and scratch-resistant Gorilla glass display.

The main highlight of the smartphone is the 8-megapixel camera with fixed focus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, camcorder (720p@25fps), video stabilization and secondary VGA camera.

The phone's spec sheet is completed with other features such as: HSDPA 10.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, USB On-the-go support, 3.5 mm audio jack, 340 MB of internal memory, 256 MB RAM, 1GB ROM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB card included) and GPS with A-GPS support.
