Three months after the European release

Nokia, the leading mobile phone manufacturer, has just announced that on the first Cseries device launched in April in Europe, will be available starting this month on the Indian market. The mid-budget handset includes a wide range of social networking services such as, Facebook, YouTube, hi5, Friendster, MySpace, which aims it at youngsters and people that want to stay in touch with their friends all the time.

Nokia C5 comes with a small-sized 2.2-inch TFT display rendering 16 Million colors and 240x320 pixel resolution. The device features a standard bar form and measures 112x46x12.3 mm. The handset can be easily put in the “skinny” category with only 90g weight, including battery. The candybar also includes: Speakerphone with stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack port, Stereo FM radio with RDS function, 50 MB internal memory storage and 128 MB RAM, microSD card slot (up to 16GB and 2GB card included), 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash and secondary videocall camera.

The handset is powered by an ARM 11 600 MHz processor and runs on Symbian OS v9.3, Series 60 rel. 3.2 platform. In terms of communication, the device features the full pack of connectivity technologies: GPRS and EDGE class 32, HSDPA 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0, as well as GPS with A-GPS support and Ovi Maps 3.0. Messaging capabilities include support for SMS, AMS, MMS, Email, Push Email, Instant Messaging and RSS feed.

Nokia C5 boasts an excellent Li-Ion 1050 mAh battery, with a stated life expectancy of Up to 630 h (2G) / Up to 670 h (3G) in standby mode, and Up to 12 h (2G) / Up to 5 h (3G) in talk time mode. Nokia also lists the device as being able to sustain up to 34h of music playback. The only drawback of the phone might be its high 1.34 W/kg SAR.

Nokia C5 is available starting this week and can be bought for Rs. 7999, which is approximately USD 170$.
