Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has recently released a new handset on the market in Indonesia, namely the Nokia C3, an affordable device that was unveiled officially only a couple of months ago. The handset was released in Indonesia on Saturday in 10 cities around the country, including Jakarta and Bandung, and became generally available on Sunday.

Although it comes to shelves only as a low cost device, the Nokia C3 still had its share of high sales during the weekend, a recent post on Nokia Conversations notes, “thousands turned out for the arrival of the Nokia C3 in Indonesia at the weekend, causing long queues at a series of special events held there. Across 10 cities including Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta folks undeterred by the rain waited patiently to get their hands on the new device.”

Those mobile phone users in Indonesia who were fond of grabbing the new Nokia C3 as soon as it was put on sale had the chance of purchasing the handset at a special price, the aforementioned post continues. Another notable fact is that users in Indonesia were the first to be able to put their hands on the new handset, which is set to become available for purchase in more countries around the world during the following few weeks.

The specifications list of the brand new device includes a candybar form factor, the Symbian S40 operating system, a 2.4-inch screen, 2-megapixel camera, a memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space, Wi-Fi connectivity, support for social networking sites, integration with Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, and others more.

“The Nokia C3 is the most affordable QWERTY device ever to come out of Espoo. Based on the same form factor as the now infamous E71 and E72. Inspired by its elder brethren, the C3 brings messaging to the masses, coming as it does with Ovi Mail pre-installed so users can get up and running on email in a snap. It’s also a plenty capable snapper and with GPRS and WiFi on board is perfect for sharing pictures, too. Users can also access their favourite social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, right from the homescreen,” the Nokia Conversations post concludes.
