The Nokia Beta Labs has announced today that that the Ovi Contacts client software has been updated. According to Kristian Luoma, product manager, Ovi Contacts, the development team has been focused lately mainly on delivering enhancements for quality of the S60 3rd Feature Pack 2 version of the client.

The new version of Ovi Contacts client software does not come with major feature updates, yet it is stated to come with a lot of bugs fixed. At the same time, the team also states that the application should be able to run much smoother now, while also featuring improved search.

Kristian Luoma states that the team has taken into consideration the feedback it has received from users to perform the improvements in the new version of the software. Thus, the search has been enhanced due to the fact that a lot of users reported that it was rather hard to find contacts. This time, he says, one should be able get in touch with friends much more easily.

As many of you might already know, Contacts on Ovi had a major breakdown about two weeks ago, when they had the service suspended for a long period of time. Even worse, the breakdown drove them into losing three weeks of users' data. All the updates to profile details, images and friendships that were made between January 23rd and February 11th were lost.

Although the team there doesn’t seem to have been responsible for the mess, for sure there are a lot of users out there affected by the breakdown and who also blame these guys for the issue. But the team assures that no similar problem will appear in the future. Given the fact that the new client software will bring some speed improvements, perhaps you'd like to try it out. It can be downloaded from Softpedia or directly from Nokia Beta Labs.
